# Updating

> How to move to a new release

Check **Admin → Updates** to see whether a newer version is available for your license.

This CRM does not auto-update your server — you'll get a link to the new release and a changelog. Back up your database and any files you've customized before installing it, especially if you've edited `app/Hooks/custom.php` or added custom Blade views per [Customizing with hooks](/crm/customizing) — updates never touch those, but it's still worth a backup before any release swap.
